I am a Fiduciary. Fiduciaries work in the best interest of the client. Non-fiduciary need only to recommend products that are “suitable” — even if they’re not the lowest-cost or most ideal for you. That’s why you want to know about the fiduciary rule and ask potential advisors if they follow that standard.
We charge $5,100 per year, per client relationship. Advisors can use a variety of fee structures. To keep it simple and avoid conflicts of interest, focus on fee-only advisors. If cost is a concern, you can consider some of the a la carte options we provide for those just starting out or just in need of Comprehensive Financial Planning.
Outside of the $5100 I charge to manage your portfolio and provide comprehensive planning, you will find fees in most ETFs and Mutual Funds. Fees gradually destroy wealth and it is very important to have complete transparency.
Put another way: How much access will you have to the advisor? I spend as much time as needed with each of my clients. We maintain a much smaller than industry average client base to better serve our clients and be there for them when they need us.
